The majority of students at Eckerd come from out of state, that means you may have a questions around voting here in Florida or voting from afar. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions, feel free to contact us if your question is not covered here!

  • Where should I register to vote? You should register at your most up to date address (i.e. if you are at home right now, register at home). Please note that you might need to change it again if/when we go back to campus if you plan to vote at school.

  • Can I register to vote on campus? Yes. If you are living on-campus or off-campus, you can change your voter registration to here in Florida. Note: You can only vote in one state. By changing your voter registration to Florida, you will only be able to vote in Florida elections.

  • How do I register to vote at Eckerd? If you live on-campus and want to register to vote here, below is the information you will need to complete your home address:

  • Can I register to vote in Florida with my out-of-state ID or License? NO. If you are an out-of-state student without a Florida license/ID, when asked for ID put in the last 4-digits of your Social Security Number (SSN).

  • What are the ways I can vote in Florida? 3 ways! You can Vote By Mail or cast your ballot either through early voting or on Election Day. In Florida, we have no-excuse Vote By Mail, meaning you do not need an excuse to request it, anyone can Vote By Mail.

  • What are Primaries like here? Florida is a CLOSED Primary state. That means you have to be registered as either a Republican or Democrat in order to vote in primary elections. In the general elections, you do not need to be affiliated with a particular party to vote.

  • Why does StudentVote.org need this information? This info requested is what is required on a voter registration form for it to be complete. This site has security measures to make sure your personal information (like SSN, ID #, etc.) is secured and not stored anywhere after the form is generated!
